Work together to make the environment better  Look around. We have many opportunities to make our environment better. Let's do it together

  • Let's plant, clean, repair and fight for it.
  • Repair the toilet if it keeps flushing water. There is a Mongolian proverb that says, “If drops are collected, they will become an ocean”. Repair your toilet if the water runs through it. It will save you money and water leaking through the floor to your downstairs neighbor.
  • Talk to the city administration. Look around when you walk in the morning.  Walking on dusty narrow pedestrian roads is not possible for kids and disabled people. Talk to the city administration about these problems to initiate change.
  • Place your chewing gum in the garbage can after use. Chewing gum should be put in a trash bin after it is used, not just thrown anywhere. Chewing gum has the same impact as plastic bags to the environment. It takes many years to decompose in nature; so put your chewing gum in a trash bin.
  • Use an improved  stove with efficient fuel.  Use an improved stove to make a difference in your daily life. You will save fuel and make life easier . Try it out. It is economical and less polluting.
  • Seal your windows and doors. You loose 20-30% of your purchased heat if you do  have not good windows and doors. So seal and save.
  • Teach your children not to drop candy papers in the street. Teach your child not to litter the street with candy papers. They would love to follow you and you will know that they are becoming environmentally friendly future citizens who respect themselves and others.
  • Don't pee in the street. This is the worst aspect of our country. If you do this you are insulting yourself. You are polluting the air and acting in an uncivilized way.  Most importantly, you are breathing air poluted by yourself.
  • Don't spit outside. More than 300 diseases and infections are spread by splitting. If you see someone doing so please urge him to stop.
  • Stop your engine for a while. Traffic jam, so bad. However, you can stop your engine when you stop for a long time.
  • Use less washing chemicals. Chemicals can be toxic, including washing detergents. It is better to use less chemical washing detergants for economic and smart consumption.
  • Replace your  leaking faucet. Replace your leaking facet as soon as possible. It stains your sink an ugly color and it is wasting tons  of water.
  • Use energy efficient light bulbs. This is a smart way to consume. Efficient light bulbs are energy saving, cheap and durable.
  • Don't dump  garbage outside. It is better to dump your garbage in a trash bin. This action is a big contribution to the  environment.
  • Carpool with friends. Try to use one car with your friends if you all going out together.
  • Do not pour waste water in the street. Never dump your waste water in the street. It creates ice in winter and helps pollute the air.
  • Love trees. If you find any ignorant person destroying the forest, please make him stop. The forest is the lung of the earth.
  • Look for fuel efficiency when buying  a car. Let’s go for fuel efficient, less polluting small cars.
  • Respect the Blue scarf. How do you feel when you see blue scarves hanging around when you leave the city. The blue scarf we respect looks so bad when it is misused. Putting scarves everywhere in a disrespectful way cannot be our tradition.
  • Stop making our a dump point.  Throwing garbage on Ovoo has become a truly bad habit. If we respect our religion, we’d better not throw garbage in our sacred place.
  • No more burning plastics and rubber. This action creates some of worst air pollution and is very bad for our  lung.
  • Walking is healthy Walking is fun. You have the opportunity to see and understand your neighborhood.  If you have time, take a walk!
  • Don't spill car oil on the ground. Everything we dump on the ground will return to our bodies.  Let's avoid harming our health and community.
  • Go for wind and solar energy. Not only countryside people use wind and solar panels. It is economical and illustrates that you care about the  earth.
  • Stop wearing rare animal skins. Wearing rare animal skins is out of world fashion today. Everyone knows that these animals need to be protected, that they have better purposes on the earth than on your back.  You wouldn't want to appear to be uneducated on this issue.
  • Stop illegal hunting and logging. This is an illegal action.   Don't support this action and remember it is illegal for a reason.
  • Take a shorter shower. If you take long showers, consider cutting it short by a few minutes. You’ll conserve water, and the electricity needed to heat up the water, lowering your utility bills and reducing your energy consumption at the same time.
  • Use a hand towel instead of napkins or paper towels. Reusing items instead of using disposable items is almost always a better thing for the environment. Reduce the need to cut down trees, the power needed to turn them into napkins, and the space in the landfill once you throw them away.
  • Print only what you need. Instead of automatically hitting the print button, think of whether you really need a hardcopy of that document. Can you email it instead? File it on your computer instead of your file cabinet. Read it on the computer instead of on paper? You don't have to eliminate printing entirely, but holding off on that print button once in a while could greatly reduce your paper consumption.
  • Turn off the lights. If you are not using the lights or other electric items, then just turn them off. It will save energy and help for the environment.
  • Use rechargeable batteries. Instead of throwing your batteries away all the time, reuse rechargeable batteries. Costs a little more, but cheaper in the long run.
  • Pump your tire. If your tire is well pumped it will also save fuel consumption and tires will last longer. It only takes a few minutes and it worth the effort.
  • Join nature protection activity. Educate yourself about what organizations are working towards conservation and how, see if there is any way you can lend a helping hand
  • Look for efficiency when you buy electrical supplies. Energy efficient electric items are more expensive than the conventional ones but it will be cheaper in the long run when you consider the difference in your bills.
  • Be smart about the Washing Machine. Try not use the washing machine so often. Go for bulk washing when you can, make sure the load is full before you start a cycle.
  • Open recycling centers everywhere. This will help more people to recycle as it will be easier, more convenient and a reminder to others.
  • Reduce the road tracks. There are so many roads in the rural areas. This is unnecessary and  destroys pasture while creating dust. So please do not add to this problem.
  • Stop polluting springs and rivers. We, as Mongolians, have a long tradition of not polluting water. Polluted water highly impacts the flora and fauna of an area as well as our own lives. So let's keep our water clean.
  • Look for Improving your wooden toilets. Hygine goes first nowadays. It also shows how developed we are. You can make your toilet green or Eco. Explore how toilets are being improved. One example: GTZ has Eco San toilet project. Just check it out.
